2002 National Association of Broadcasters Convention

In April 2002, Executive Director Bernie Avalle and Engineer Shawn Serre traveled to Las Vegas to attend the annual NAB Convention.  Here you get to see all the newest in television, computer, and radio technologies.  Much research was done on equipment that will be guiding PCTV through the new few years.
Equipment looked at included mobile production vehicles, microwave technologies, data storage, non-linear editing, and robotic cameras.  There should be some exciting changes at PCTV in the near future due the research done and contacts made at NAB.

Here are a few pictures of the convention.

Here is a wide shot of the Las Vegas Convention Center.  This entire building (and another building at the Sands Hotel) was full of equipment to look at. Here is a mobile production unit built into a 2002 Lexus.

Just what PCTV needs, its own Copter Cam. This is a picture of one of the hundreds of mobile production vehicles on display.
A much larger production vehicle.    A wall of monitors.  This wall is the approximate size of a tractor trailer.  Talk about picture in picture.
This is a beautiful studio camera. Not only are production vehicles looked over at NAB, but bucket lifts for people and cameras are also a hot commodity.
The Lion Sleeps Tonight.  Go ahead hum along.  Weem-a-way. This picture was taken at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. Hey, it's Dick Van Dyke!!!
A camera mounted on a vest.  Why didn't we think of that? Here is a photo of Executive Director Bernie Avalle and a member of Blue Man Group.  Bernie is on the right.
