Want to create your own local programming? Become a program producer at PCTV!
In order to have a program cablecast on one of the three channels operated by PCTV, a member must sign on as the "program producer of record." This means the person must take responsibility for the content of the program, for being the primary contact with the PCTV staff, and for organizing and maintaining a volunteer production crew.
Step 1: Fill out, sign and return the Producer Contract agreement form. See below for a form you can download and print.
Step 2: Connect with the appropriate channel coordinator at PCTV. Work out details like reserving studio and equipment time, training, and cablecast schedules.
For programs that will be cablecast on Access Pittsfield, this is the public access coordinator. If you qualify as an education or government producer, you will connect with the appropriate coordinator for those channels. If you are not sure which coordinator is the correct one, we can help you figure that out.
Step 3: Put together a crew of volunteers to help you produce the program. These folks will need to be PCTV members, and they will need to be trained on our equipment. The volunteers might be other people you know, who share common interests with your program, and they could also include existing PCTV members who can lend you a hand.
Step 4: Get any applicable permissions from people who you will have on-camera, in addition to clearances to use music and video that you might use in your program.
Step 5: Arrange one (or more) training sessions and run-throughs with your crew, so you can be ready to produce your program
Step 6: Produce your first show! Make sure you tell everyone when it's scheduled to be on TV!
